Code Orange Kids

Bio

Code Orange Kids are a lot of things: they're from Pittsburgh, they're all teenagers, they play hardcore. One thing they certainly aren’t is pretentious. The sound that they've developed over the last year and half’s three releases— CYCLES, EMBRACE ME//ERASE ME — CS, a 2010 demo — pulls no punches. It takes no prisoners. It brings no relief. It is hardcore the Code Orange Kids way, and we’d be damned if you can find anything that will leave you feeling the same after one of their notorious shows.

Maybe it's from playing together in a handful of other musical projects for years (Lillith, Adventures), but their obvious chemistry as a foursome makes for a musical product that is boldly crafted and a performance that is memorable. The band received an overwhelmingly positive reception on their first full U.S. tour this past winter with Xerxes, during which they also announced their signing to Deathwish Inc. Spring will see the release of a split with Full of Hell on Topshelf and fall will see their LP release. We may agree that 2012 is the year of Code Orange Kids if we weren’t so sure this would continue on for a long time.

Listen to a new track, "VI (Worms Fear God // God Fears Youth)", from Code Orange Kids over at BrooklynVegan:
You?d never guess it, but Code Orange Kids have almost gone goth with their new track ?VI (Worms Fear God // God Fears Youth)?, part of a four-way split with Tigers Jaw, The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die and Self Defense Family due tomorrow (4/23) via Run For Cover/Topshelf Records. Opening with a shimmering guitar riff, buried clean vocals and reverb galore, the song opens up into something darker/more sinister as the track progresses.

Order your copy on digital/7? via Bandcamp or through the Topshelf or Run for Cover webstores.

Pre-orders are up for The World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die / Code Orange Kids / Self Defense Family / Tigers Jaw split 7" Thu, Mar 21, 2013

Today we’ve got a pre-order up for a record that’s been in the works for the better part of a year (rather publicly, actually). It ought to be worth the wait though, with tracks from The World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to DieCode Orange Kids, Self Defense Family & Tigers Jaw and artwork from Kimi Hanauer (who has a fantastic knack for mixed media / digital collage).

The record features a track from each band and will be released via Topshelf Records / Run For Cover Records on April 23, 2013 (with each label having an exclusive, limited variant of the record available). As of the time of my writing this, the only song available to hear is Self Defense Family’s “Holy Trend” which you can stream now on Revolver Magazine’s website.

Pre-order the record in the Topshelf Records store.
