Suis La Lune // New EP, "Distance / Closure"

Last fall Swedish screamo four-piece Suis La Lune went back into the studio to begin recording new material. The resulting recordings make up the band's forthcoming four-song EP entitled Distance / Closure and today we're happy to announce the details for it! The band headed into Guitarist and vocalist Henning Runolf’s basement studio to record the new material. The new EP is set for release on July 31, 2015.

Suis La Lune recorded the material themselves, drummer Karl Sladö says, "The recording clocks in at around 25 minutes. The songs are a tad more technical and a bit longer, there's a lot of stuff going on for sure.”

In the past Suis La Lune have been heralded for their own flavor of classic late-90s style screamo by combining post-rock-esque instrumentation and tender melodies with passionately frantic vocals and lyrics. Sladö goes on to say the new material has “a darker, harder sound”, however, “Suis La Lune still sounds like Suis La Lune”.

The follow-up to 2012's incredibly accomplished Riala, the new EP's cover art and track listing are up now, as well as an option to be notified when pre-orders become available.

Suis La Lune // Recording new album to be released in 2015

Upon releasing 2012's Riala, Sweden's Suis la Lune went into a brief hibernation. The band will shake off the cob webs from that lull, however, and enter the studio this weekend to record a new album set for a 2015 release. Below is what the band's drummer, Karl Sladö, had this to say about the new material:

It's gonna be four songs, they're a bit longer than previous Suis La Lune songs. Recording is clocking in at around 25 minutes. The songs are also a bit more "technical" if you wish, nothing typical mathy about them, but a lot of stuff going on for sure. Suis La Lune still sounds like Suis La Lune, but I guess the direction we're heading would be longer songs, if anything.

As you know, this isn't our first release by a long shot, but it's the first one with our revamped setting. All original members are still here, but me and Daniel have switched instruments, so you'll find Daniel at the guitar and myself behind the drums. This has worked out better than expected and we're really happy about it.

More details soon!

Summer pre-orders, re-presses & new releases!

Preorders!

Cut Teeth's debut EP, Televandalism, completely rips and reminds us a lot of what we love so much about bands like These Arms Are Snakes. Please check them out and pick up the record if you haven't yet!

Prawn just got back back from their EU / UK tour and are getting ready to hit the road again with Calculator. Their new EP LP Ships is still up for pre-order on our store, though — an update on this one: it's been delayed significantly due to some issues with the audio on vinyl not sounding as good as we want it to — with the band having been overseas, for over a month, troubleshooting this has been a slower than normal process. We'll keep you posted.

Welcome Suis La Lune to the family!

Last year, Pianos Become the Teeth toured Europe with now great friends and label mates, Suis La Lune. They came back to the US with nothing but praise and high esteem for them. We're obviously fans of the band and what they've done, but we'd never really worked with an international band on a project from start to finish and just had never really given it much thought until that point.

image

So after mulling it over some, today we're happy to announce that we'll be working with Sweden’s Suis La Lune in releasing their next LP, Riala. This marks the first international act that we've worked with entirely from start to finish on a release. The band is self-producing Riala, which will be released this spring.

Here's a statement the band wrote up about it all:

Six years after our debut album and countless tours in both Europe and the US, it is finally time for the sophomore album entitled Riala to see the light of day. Still with the mix of calm and hectic passages present, the sound has evolved into what almost feels like complex pop songs; more melodic, catchier and with as much passion as ever before. Suis La Lune is happy to present their latest effort and proudest moment to date via Topshelf Records in the spring of 2012.

You can check out Suis La Lune on Facebook. Woo!
